RANKING CALCULATION

The ranking of each pilot is calculated by adding the points earned at each open championship. The more points earned, the higher the rank of the pilot.

The minimum number of championships necessary to qualify for AWC is 2. Pilots can participate to as many championships as they wish, but this will not give them any advantage other than maximizing their chances to get best results.

The calculation of their points will be made by adding their 2 best results in terms of points (or in terms of average mark if the points are the same) for each championship.

For each championship, points are given as follows:

  • 1st: 10 points + bonus (- competition malus)

  • 2nd: 8 points + bonus (- competition malus)

  • 3rd: 5 points + bonus (- competition malus)

  • 4th: 3 points + bonus (- competition malus)

  • 5th: 2 points + bonus (- competition malus)

  • 6th to 10th: 1 point + bonus

  • 11th and more: 0 point

Bonus = 0,1*standing points from the previous year of lower ranked pilots, rounded to the closest half (e.g. 0,1x1,4=1,5 points, 0,1x7=0,5 points, 0,1x4=0,5 points and 0,1x2=0 points)

Competition malus = 2 points if competition has 5 participants or less.

In case of a tie, the pilot who took the highest number of points at his best competition in terms of points will take the advantage.

In case of a tie between two or more pilots with the same number of points at their best competition in terms of points, the pilot who flew the highest number of flights during his best competition in terms of points will take the advantage.

If there is still a tie because there is no best competition in terms of points, then the average mark of the 2 best competitions in terms of points firstly and in terms of average mark secondly will be taken into account.

Therefore, the criteria for calculation of overall ranking are taken in this order: points given by ranking, number of programs flown, average mark.

The ranking of teams is made out of the addition of the individual points of each pilot of the team.

The points are virtually given to all pilots participating to the competition, but only pilots who have registered to AWC will appear on the provisional and final AWC rankings.
